PRESS RELEASE
Funding approved for renovation, improvement and extension of Leasingham Village Playpark
Residents in Leasingham are set to get an improved children’s play area thanks to a £63,010.48 towards the costs of the project via a grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
The money will be used to install several new items of play equipment and upgrade some of the older equipment and surfaces. This will include accessible items, such as picnic benches and basket swings at the playing field, off Spring Lane, Leasingham
Steven Milligan, Councillor of Leasingham and Roxholm Parish Council believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.
He says: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Leasingham. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our Play area taking shape over the next few months".
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Steven Milligan hopes the playpark will be ready to use by the spring.
Details and plans can be found here https://leasingham.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk/downloads/download/13/leasingham-playpark-plans . They include an obstacle course, zip wire and climbing pyramid as well as a climbing frame for smaller children.
In Nov 21 it was suggested by members of the Leasingham and Roxholm Parish Council, that the current playpark within Leasingham village was outdated and did not offer enough to the community. A smaller group of the Parish Council set to work in designing and obtaining quotes from local contractors to improve the facility.
Once satisfied with the project design, they started to come up with methods to raise the funds required. Various community groups and events have helped in this, these included; The Parish Councils monthly bingo sessions at the village hall and the village’s annual Scarecrow Festival. Funds will also be contributed from the Parish Council’s Community Benefit Fund, this fund is provided by the Deepdale Solar Farm to support projects which will benefit the residents of Leasingham and Roxholm. The Parish Council would like to extend it's thanks to all who have contributed thus enabling the project to go ahead.

The Landfill Communities Fund and Scottish Landfill Communities Fund - any waste that is discarded which cannot be reused, reprocessed or recycled may ultimately be disposed of in a
landfill site. To encourage the re-use, recycle and recovery of more value from waste and use more environmentally friendly methods of waste disposal, Landfill Tax is charged on each tonne of waste sent to landfill. Landfill Operators (LOs) are able to redirect a small proportion of landfill tax liability to support a wide range of community and environmental projects in the vicinity of
landfill sites through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) and Scottish Landfill Communities
Fund (SLCF). The LCF is regulated by ENTRUST on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs, and the
projects are delivered by enrolled Environmental bodies (EBs). The SLCF is regulated by SEPA on behalf of Revenue Scotland and projects are delivered by Approved Bodies (ABs).
